SO, YOU WANT TO EXPLORE ADHD ASSESSMENT?

Making the decision to see a psychologist to explore ADHD symptoms, let alone seek assessment for ADHD can be a scary experience, luckily, I am here to support you through the process.

Many of the people I have seen for assessment comment that they relate to popular ADHD content viewed on social media and have decided to explore whether the condition is something they truly have. Other people comment that their friends or family have made suggestions related to their cognition and behaviour and are seeking to confirm or disprove their observations. Either way, if you are reading this you must have a hunch that there is something about who you are that you wish to explore!

Below you will find information about ADHD assessment to help you make a decision as to whether it is something you wish to pursue.

What is ADHD?

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a type of neurological disorder called a neurodevelopmental disorder. ADHD can affect children, teenagers and adults. Gaining an understanding of how the condition influences your life is really important. Having an assessment completed can help you or a loved one discover ways of managing and working towards functioning at their best.

Having an assessment completed can be a great way to inform planning, learn about yourself and can provide a new perspective for the way you view your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Assessment, regardless of the outcome, will highlight both strengths and challenges associated with your executive functioning.

What are the benefits of assessment?

Many people comment that understanding why they experience difficulty with focusing or concentrating after completing ADHD assessment is a powerful experience. Exploring ADHD via assessment opens the door to learning strategies and skills that will help you manage better in daily life. It can also assist in understanding how best to organise yourself and feel more productive and as a result reduce feeling overwhelmed all the time.

What does assessment involve?

ADHD assessment consists of an interview where we will take down a thorough background history of your life, you will also complete some psychometric testing. The whole process takes around 2 hours to complete. A second appointment is required so that we can discuss whether a diagnosis is applicable, this is where we run through the results and recommendations.

The cost of assessment is $1250, this includes the initial assessment, feedback and recommendation session as well as a PDF copy of the psychological report.

If you feel like this is a process you would like to take part in, give us call and we can work on setting up an appointment at a time that suits you. Currently offering ADHD assessment Frankston, Peninsula and Bayside areas.
