DVA Funded Psychology Services at Carolan Psychology

Accessible Mental Health Support for Veterans

Carolan Psychology is proud to support Australian veterans and their families through high‑quality, trauma‑informed psychological care. We provide therapy to individuals who are eligible for Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) funding, offering accessible and confidential support via secure telehealth across Australia.

Who Is Eligible for DVA‑Funded Psychology?

You may be able to access psychological services through DVA if you hold:

  • A DVA White Card (for approved mental health conditions)
  • A DVA Gold Card (for all mental health conditions)

Eligibility typically requires a referral from your GP, psychiatrist, or other approved referrer. If you’re unsure about your eligibility, we can help you understand the process and next steps.

What DVA Funding Covers

DVA funding can support a range of psychological services, including:

  • Evidence‑based therapy for PTSD, trauma, anxiety, depression, and adjustment concerns
  • Support for transition from service to civilian life
  • Treatment for chronic stress, burnout, and service‑related mental health conditions
  • Functional and wellbeing‑focused interventions
  • Collaboration with your broader care team (GP, psychiatrist, case managers)

Sessions are delivered via secure telehealth, making support accessible whether you’re in metropolitan Melbourne, regional Victoria, or anywhere across Australia.

Our Approach With Veterans

Working with veterans requires sensitivity, respect, and an understanding of the unique challenges associated with military service. At Carolan Psychology, we provide:

  • Trauma‑informed, evidence‑based therapy
  • A collaborative and non‑judgemental space
  • Support tailored to your goals, pace, and lived experience
  • Clear communication with referrers and DVA where appropriate
  • A focus on recovery, resilience, and improving daily functioning

We recognise the courage it takes to reach out for support, and we aim to make the process as smooth and respectful as possible.

How to Access DVA‑Funded Therapy

To get started, you will need:

  1. A valid DVA White or Gold Card
  2. A referral from your GP, psychiatrist, or another approved referrer
  3. Your referral sent to Carolan Psychology (or you can bring it to your first appointment)

If you’re unsure how to arrange this, we can guide you through each step.
